Lose Weight – Want Thinner Thighs?
Here are 7 exercise tips for thinner thighs. Lose inches from your thighs before summer. Here are seven things you need to do right now according to Doug Bennet, Master Personal Trainer and owner of The Body Studio in Cohasset, MA.
1) Interval training
Research from Australia found that when women did short burst interval training, they lost most of the fat from their thighs and butt. Example of interval training would be high intensity jump rope for 1 minute with a 30 second rest for a period of 5-20 minutes.
2) Take a before photo of yourself and take measurements. Looking at this will trigger you to remember your goal and give you that extra push to change.
3) Switch to more body weight exercises such as squats without any weight for 30-90 seconds. Try these:
- lunge on 1 leg for 60 seconds.
- straight leg raises with a 2-5 pound ankle weight while sitting.
4) Cut out processed foods, sugar, artificial sweeteners, baked goods and flour from your diet. Diet is the key to fat loss and thinner thighs. So keep your diet clean with lean protein, lots of organic veggies and fruits, and good carbs like sweet potatoes, brown rice, etc. Doug says that when people have difficulty losing weight while exercising, it is often because of over doing it on sugary snacks. And he warns not to believe the gimmicks telling you to take pills or drinks because they don’t work.
5) If you can jog with intervals of quick running than do it. Running still is one of teh best forms of leaning out while eating right.
6) Train your legs only once a week with weights. Only lift with weights 3 times per week if you are body buidling. On the other 2 days, work on interval training and intense cardio days. Kick boxing is also a great way to burn calories and work on those thighs.
7) Work your butt with weights. Heavy medicine balls are great for exercises such as hip thrust and narrow leg squats. Also, back leg kicks to a heavy bag work your glutes great.
